The blood pressure varying with the heartbeat changes the amount of blood in the peripheral blood vessels. This leads to an optically measurable alteration of skin reflectance and transmittance. Two approaches to optically measure the pulse were studied in two projects. Goal of these projects was to visualize the measured pulse signal on a LCD.
